Reflection on Leprosy

Leprosy is an interesting disease and I wanted to take a moment to record some facts:

• It starts under the skin out of sight initially, eventually making itself manifest.
• It numbs the nerves, many would not know they had it until they dropped something on their foot and would not feel it. Things that would make them shutter don't anymore.
• It separated families and friends.
  
• At the time it had no cure until Jesus came to the scene to heal it.

Leprosy in the Bible is a picture of the effects of sin. It was a sore below the skin, just as sin is below our skin, it is a heart issue. The fascinating thing is when a person was effected head to toe, to the point that it would not spread any longer, it was no longer active and a person would be declared to be clean! (Lev 13:12-13) When we are willing to confess we are total sinners (head to toe) and believe in the Lord Jesus, we are made clean! (Romans 10:9)
