Only God Remains...

God just wants us to be content in Him, not our circumstances... God is "I AM." He is constant. Circumstances like economies, governments, taxes, leaders, homes, cars, relationships constantly change... If we try to find contentment in any of these things we are only going to be dissatisfied with life.

Heavy Duty...

"So the master commended the unjust steward because he had dealt shrewdly. For the sons of this world are more shrew in their generation than the sons of light... Therefore if you have not been faithful in the unrighteous mammon, who will commit to your trust the true riches?" (Luke 16:8,11)

So yesterday, the boys discussed this particular text out of the One-Year-Bible reading this week and we discussed the current economic situation. Mammon (unrighteous mammon) means money. When this particular steward (Luke 16) was in a tight bind it forced him to be shrewd with money, to cancel debts and make friends. Today our government and even car companies are dealing shrewdly in the same way. In light of this read verse 8 again, "For the sons of the world are more shrewd than the sons of light." As Followers of Jesus, as sons and daughters of light, we have to ask ourselves, "How am I responding in the current situation?" Are we truly willing to help those in need? Or are we only looking out for our own welfare? Are sons of the world more giving than the Church?

The World is freaking out, looking for answers, and we have the answer... Jesus. Pray that God grants us the grace to be faithful with what God has given us, being willing to give to others. For we know that if we are faithful with earthly means, we will be entrusted with the eternal!

Honor Mom and Dad.

“If a man has a stubborn and rebellious son who will not obey the voice of his father or the voice of his mother, and who, when they have chastened him, will not heed them, then his father and his mother shall take hold of him and bring him out to the elders of his city, to the gate of his city. 20 And they shall say to the elders of his city, ‘This son of ours is stubborn and rebellious; he will not obey our voice; he is a glutton and a drunkard.’ Then all the men of his city shall stone him to death with stones; so you shall put away the evil from among you, and all Israel shall hear and fear. (Deuteronomy 21:18-21)

This was part of the 1 Year Bible reading for today... I don't have many words to add but simply to say, thank God for grace. He takes disobedience and disrespect towards our parents seriously!
