Happy New Year

"... and do not think to say to yourselves, 'We have Abraham as our father.' For I say to you that God is able to raise up children to Abraham from these stones." (Matthew 3:9)

As the Youth Group begins the 1 Year Bible this week, I came across this statement by John the Baptist to the Pharisees and Sadducee's. As I considered the object of choice by John, I was struck by the fact that John the Baptist picked the most lifeless piece of matter in existence in our universe... Even dirt has more nutrients than a stone or a rock! As I considered this I reflected on the condition of the heart, which can be rock hard too. If God could raise up a child of God from a rock, how much more a child from a person with a rock hard heart? Where is your heart towards the living God? Are you discouraged about a family member with a hard-heart towards God? Pray for them this year. Pray with the same faith John the Baptist had in the living God, who can take that which is hard and lifeless, and create life! Pray that this year would be the year that God brings life to your heart. Pray that this would be the year God brings to life the hard heart that may exist in the lives of those people who are closest to you! Only God can bring such life!

Happy New Year!
